Does anyone practise intermittent fasting?

If so, how many hours each day do you fast? Or do you fast the entire day? How many days do you generally go without food?

I normally eat once every 24 hours, but I’ve gone 72 hours on few occasions. In terms of weight, I don’t see much of a difference. Just less possibilities to make poor decisions.

I found intermittent fasting quite beneficial!

The 16:8 split allows me to eat large meals that keep me satisfied while still giving me flexibility for social dining.

36:12 has helped me to detox from food and allowed me to easily lose weight without needing to watch calories (however discovering my root reason of weight gain was the primary driver of this).

I prioritise high-protein, high-fiber meals and aim to limit my consumption of ultra-processed foods.

I found 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. to be the sweet spot for 16:8, and 8 a.m. to 8 p. Right now, my schedule is:

Eating days: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday. Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday are non-eating days. Thursday: Reset Day (16:8 Eating Window)

I’m a more intuitive eater.

What works for me is to stick to a Mediterranean diet, eat when hungry, portion my meals, and eat only until I’m full.

I am also focussing on increasing my weekly cardio time to 150 minutes or more. Personally, I need to build my way up gently because I have a serious autoimmune illness and need to keep that bish asleep.

In doing so, I’ve shed around 10 pounds in the last two months.

Each to their own. I was never a breakfast fan. I fasted for five days and then ate once a night before bed. Lost 74 pounds in 5-6 months. (Also, cease drinking).

For weight loss, all you’re doing is limiting your calorie intake by not eating throughout the day. If you reach your desired weight and then return to eating as if you were overweight, you will regain the weight. Intermittent fasting is a terrific tool, but work on portion control as well if you don’t expect to do it every day indefinitely.

I tried, but it doesn’t make sense in my routine. I work out at 7 a.m. and then need to eat. If I start my eating window too early, I have to stop eating about 4 p.m., when I haven’t even returned home from work. I found the entire procedure to be overly unpleasant and time-consuming. So I now track calories and eat my final meal by 7 p.m., but I don’t try to fast. This method has helped me lose a significant amount of weight.

I fast and follow 16:8. I eat from 12pm to 8pm and then fast from 8pm to 12pm the next day. It occasionally fluctuates owing to the inability to eat early in my window, but for the most part, that is what it is. When I reach my desired weight, I plan to switch to a 12-hour eating window. Probably from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

No, I get too hungry.

I’m a small stature person, I don’t need a lot of calories, I’ve found fasting isn’t a good way for me personally to reduce my intake. I track it and try to keep my calories steady.
