How many calories in a shot of vodka?

I was completely wrong about assuming that spirits like Vodka had almost no calories. I mean, seriously wrong.

Vodka, which is considered one of the least fattening alcoholic drinks, actually has about 100 calories in each shot! I am shocked by this discovery.

Did anyone else make the same mistake as me? If so, how do you manage fitting the occasional drink into your calorie limit? What about when you’re out with friends?

I already knew that other drinks like beer have calories, but for some reason, I thought spirits wouldn’t have many at all. Now I can’t enjoy my whisky without feeling guilty! It’s frustrating.

I still cannot believe I thought that way in the first place.

Am I the only one surprised that you are continuing with your drinking habit yet you’ve made a discovery about the dangers underlying Vodka consumption?
If it is a must that you drink, I suggest that you drink in moderation to avoid your health having some issues in the near future. If you can refrain from alcoholic drinks the better.

Yep, vodka has around 100 calories per shot. It’s a bummer, right? Mixing it with soda water or just having one drink might help if you’re trying to stay within a calorie limit.

The calorie content depends on the vodka’s proof, with higher proof containing more calories.
A 1.5-ounce shot of vodka typically contains:

  • 70 proof: 85 calories
  • 80 proof: 96 calories
  • 90 proof: 110 calories
  • 100 proof: 124 calories

Vodka has zero carbs, fat, or sugar. It’s gluten free and contains only ethanol and water.
