I have no issue exercising; I frequently cycle, jog, and swim. It’s probably why I don’t look too horrible. But my eating habits are terrible.
I can’t stop eating, and if it weren’t for the exercise I receive every day, I’d be in worse shape than I am now. I also consume a lot of sweet, salty, and fatty foods, such as chips, sandwiches, fries, and cookies.
I truly need help with it, and I’d appreciate it if anyone could help.
I used to spend the entire day worried about food. What to eat, when to consume it, how to obtain it, and so on. Then I realised I would spend hours agonising about it while it just takes ten or fifteen minutes to eat. And then I’d spend the rest of the day beating myself up over it. I needed something else to focus on. I didn’t feel hungry. I found myself bored. Lonely. I just needed to find a purpose other than eating. I started a pastime. That was my primary focus instead. It made a tremendous difference.
As someone who was in the same situation, you simply have to stop. I know it sounds simple, but those things are tasty and provide a dopamine boost. Simply begin adding healthier foods, and it will get easier. You won’t feel like doing it; you’ll have to force yourself.
I’m experiencing the same issue. Eating because you’re bored or feeling awful. Tracking calories on Lifesum is helping me to control my eating habits. I do overeat on occasion, but I’m much more attentive of what I’m eating and how it affects my weight. When I don’t track, I get into the “fuck it” mode and start eating anything I want or to the point where it aches, even if I’m not hungry. Plus, I get a little lazy and prefer not to eat out of boredom to avoid having to scan in additional food lol.
Just come here to relate, but on the contrary — I can change my diet whenever I want, but exercising is too much! I can’t psychologically get myself to do it.
When I feel hungry, the first thing I do is drink a bottle of water to see if I am dehydrated or not. After that, I eat hard-boiled eggs, sugar-free Greek yoghurt, and some fruit. Protein is quite filling.
What are you doing all day? If you’re working or studying and have a hectic day, you probably don’t have time to consider eating that much. Of course, unless you’re binge eating in one sitting in a short period of time (which is a mental problem that should be treated by a doctor rather than Reddit).
Eliminate wheat, sugar, and all alternatives. You are addicted, and one always leads to the other. You don’t need it, and it is addictive. I recommend reading ‘Bright Line Eating’. It is also available on audible.
I was in the same boat as you, my friend. When I wanted to eat, I would get a glass of water and chew gum. It worked well for me.
You can consume them in moderation. I normally have a good time on Saturdays and reflect on it throughout the week.
Also, look at protein diets; you’ll be surprised at how delicious the meals are. In the mornings, I generally brew two protein coffees and eat protein cereal.
For lunch, I’d eat a protein bar, fruit, or prepared dishes.
Protein offers the benefit of keeping you full for longer periods of time.
