I’m just 4’10", thus my weight goal is 100 pounds. When I tell people this, they tell me it’s a very low number and that no mature woman should weigh 100 pounds, which I’d get if I was taller, but?? Do you believe this is unreasonable or unhealthy?
It is fine, although on the low side, 110 would probably be great. However, genuinely quit when you feel good and your doctor agrees.
Many people fail to consider the relationship between height and weight. I’m 5’3 and my ideal weight is 125-30. And that falls precisely in the middle of my preferred height range.
I wouldn’t inform anyone about my weight or my goal weight. I’m at the opposite end (tall), and my goal weight is someone else’s starting weight.
Most people consider 100 pounds to be starving skinny, yet most of us are not 4’10. This is a healthy weight for you.
You are OK. Ignore them.
If your goal BMI is not under 18, you’re good.
Hi. Please visit r/petitefitness if you have not already. I’m 5’1". My target is 110-115. It’s completely normal and healthy. We are small folks.
It’s within the normal range for your height. I wouldn’t worry about what others think, and if it concerns you, simply don’t say anything about it. Many people have no concept how various weights seem at different heights.
That is in the centre of the typical BMI range for an adult woman of your height. Your maximum healthy weight is 118, and your minimum is 90.
You can inform them that you qualify for dwarfism (the height cutoff is 4’10) or that you are the average height of a 12-year-old female. If you explain to them that you have a small body, they will be more likely to understand.
What they are getting today is an arbitrary scale number that is completely beyond their comprehension, and they have nothing to compare it against. Most people are unaware of their own healthy weight range, let alone what is considered healthy in an exceptional situation.
I hate it when people tell me my goal weight is unattainable because it’s so disheartening, yet when you’re shorter, your goal weight is usually around 100 pounds.
No, that’s a perfectly healthy amount. BMI of around 21.
I honestly believe that many individuals underestimate the importance of height. They see 100lbs and think “wow thats a small number”, which yeah, it is, but you’re also a small height
People have difficulty understanding the concept of varying heights. Unless someone sat down and calculated your BMI, ignore them.
An optimum weight range for an adult woman at 4’10" is 90-111 pounds, thus I do not believe it is unhealthy.
