Lose and regain the same few pounds

This is more of a vent than anything. I’ve been stuck between 136 and 140 for some weeks now. And to add salt to the wound, my next goal is 135. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get out of this 4 pound rut, but nothing is working, and I’m losing motivation quickly. I’d just like to see myself reach my first major gw, but I hit this plateau (is that the appropriate word?) immediately before that.

Weight fluctuations during weight loss attempts can be caused by a variety of variables, including water retention, muscle mass changes, and daily differences in food intake and digestion. Furthermore, individuals may encounter brief setbacks or interruptions in their weight loss efforts, resulting in swings. Healthy behaviours must be maintained consistently and patiently for long-term weight management.

The phenomena of constantly losing and gaining the same pound, sometimes known as “yo-yo dieting” or weight cycling, is a common challenge for many people trying to lose weight. One major contributor to this cycle is the use of short-term, restrictive diets, which may result in rapid weight loss but are difficult to maintain over time. These diets frequently impose significant caloric limitations or remove entire food groups, resulting in a temporary weight loss. However, once regular eating habits are restored, people may regain the weight they lost, creating a cycle of weight loss and regain.

Water retention, changes in muscle mass, and daily differences in food intake and digestion can all have an impact on weight swings throughout weight loss efforts. Furthermore, people may face brief setbacks or interruptions in their weight loss efforts, resulting in swings. Healthy habits must be consistent and patiently followed for long-term weight management.

Humans developed during a period when food was unpredictable. Our hormones work together to help us retain weight for as long as possible during times of scarcity and quickly regain it during times of abundance.

For modern humans, having grocery stores implies struggling to lose weight and soon regaining it. In general, losing weight gradually so that your body can adapt to the new weight is more effective.

People frequently lose and regain weight for a variety of reasons. Stress, boredom, a lack of sufficient nourishment, inconsistent diet or exercise habits, unrealistic ambitions, and even medical difficulties are all possible causes. Unfortunately, without addressing the underlying reason of the weight gain or implementing long-term lifestyle adjustments, the yo-yo effect will persist.

Losing weight is quite simple. You are mindful of what you eat, portion sizes, and the amount of junk food you consume. You exercise frequently. You limit your drinking. You saw results. The number on the scales fluctuates, and you must occasionally buy smaller jeans. It’s exciting.
