Since starting college, I’ve had a Fillet O’ Fish and an ice water for lunch three times a week, and it’s revolutionised my life. It has made it much simpler to stay to my calorie limit and is filling enough that I don’t feel hungry even on long days with sessions from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. It (together with other dietary adjustments and a new exercise routine) helped me drop from 390 pounds to 308, and I’m on target to be under 300 pounds for the first time since middle school next month. I wish more fast-food restaurants offered healthier options like this.
I adore the fillet of fish. Whew, mental frailty. I haven’t had one in months since I didn’t want to open Pandora’s box. But if it’s working for you, keep doing it.
Just wanted to offer this idea: I’m sure someone has already thought of it, but if I want fish and chips, I could get three fish fillets without bread, a side of tartar, and fries. Fish & chips McDonald’s hack.
Congratulations on your loss thus far! Continue to do what works for you! The McChicken, however, is marginally healthier than the Fillet O Fish. I’ve even removed the bottom bun to save a few calories, and it’s been a fantastic quick option for me.
To be honest, I can do much worse in terms of calories than McDonald’s. I usually order a McDouble, but occasionally a McChicken or Fillet o Fish. Usually only once a month or so, but I feel that all three of those possibilities are incredibly satisfying.
This is really true. It was my go-to when I wasn’t dieting or lived overseas and needed a quick comfort food (even though I’m not a big McDonald’s fan). It also tasted far better elsewhere, but I’ll take whatever I can get.
Totally agree. I occasionally order a McDouble and 6 piece with a Coke Zero. I lost seventy pounds. However, the fish is nutritionally beneficial. For a double burger, remove the bun. Fish is a low-calorie, high-protein superfood. And the fillet of fish is insanely excellent.
