I know several websites calculate how many calories you need to consume to lose weight based on your height and age, but they all give different answers. Which one is the most accurate?
https://tdeecalculator.net/ is my go-to, along with using MyFitnessPal. Make sure you’re selecting “sedentary” or “not very active” when it asks for your activity level.
I agree. It’s my go-to calculator as well. I wear a heart rate monitor, and the numbers it gives me match closely with those from tdeecalculator.net. My weight loss also aligns with the data from my heart rate monitor, so I consider tdeecalculator.net to be pretty accurate for me.
Choose “sedentary” only if you are truly chair or bed-bound. If you walk 20-30 minutes daily and spend a few hours standing or doing slow activities, you might be “lightly active.” For TDEE, include exercise in the average. For NEAT + exercise, only include non-exercise activity. This aligns with how MyFitnessPal is designed to be used.
