Hello, Reddit. I recently started a weight loss quest and decided to get back into running. However, I’ve gained a lot of weight, and now every run is accompanied by soreness in my not-so-tiny man chest. I tried a compression top and didn’t notice much of a change. Any recommendations for us larger men?
If you are obese, take a brisk stroll instead of running. I did the same thing and it helps a lot, especially on the treadmill incline with walking. It will burn more calories.
Honestly, my guy had some comparable problems. Finally, we decided to test an inexpensive sports bra, and what a difference it made. Please don’t be too self-conscious about this. Small victories pave the way for great wins. Never give up!!
If you want to keep running, you would have to deal with it. Some things that would help are eating in a deficit around 500 less than maintenance, and hitting the weights. What the weight training will do is build muscle in the chest, hence less moobs. I had the same problem when I was big, but after continued diet in a deficit, it has made it better
What amount of weight have you gained? It may be best to begin with a low-impact workout such as a bike or an elliptical. Even walking causes a lot of burns.
As a fellow moober, I understand the discomfort. To be honest, I recommend running at a slower pace. It would eliminate the additional movement. While you’re at it, I recommend doing some pushups to build your pecs.
Just try a sports bra! Much cheaper than pricey compression clothing. There’s a good chance you can get one today. No one will care if you wear a sports bra, dude.
