Seeking Advice on Weight Loss Struggles and Cravings

Hi everyone…

I’m an 18-year-old male, and I’ve found myself in a tough spot with my weight. Since November 2023, I’ve gained a significant amount of weight, largely due to coping with depression after a toxic relationship and my father’s passing. In hindsight, turning to fast food for comfort wasn’t the best choice, and now I’m facing the challenge of losing around 30 kg instead of the 10 kg I initially aimed for.

I’ve made some progress and have already lost nearly 10 kg, but I’m encountering some issues. I’m experiencing strong cravings for food and severe stomach pain when I try to stick to a calorie deficit. It’s making it hard to maintain my current plan.

I’m reaching out for advice on how to manage these cravings and stomach issues effectively. Has anyone been through something similar and found strategies that worked? Any tips on how to balance losing weight while dealing with persistent hunger and discomfort?

Experiencing cravings and discomfort during weight loss is common, but you can manage them with these strategies:

Managing Cravings:

  • Identify Triggers: Recognize what causes your cravings to develop coping strategies.
  • Healthy Alternatives: Keep nutritious snacks handy.
  • Mindful Eating: Focus on genuine hunger and avoid eating due to emotions.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink water, as thirst can be mistaken for hunger.

Addressing Stomach Pain:

  • Consult a Doctor: Seek medical advice if pain is severe or persistent.
  • Dietary Adjustments: Identify and avoid foods that cause discomfort.
  • Gradual Changes: Introduce new foods slowly to gauge your body’s reaction.
  • Increase Fiber: Gradually add fiber to your diet for better digestion.

Maintaining Motivation:

  • Set Realistic Goals: Break your weight loss journey into manageable steps.
  • Find Support: Share your goals with friends, family, or online groups.
  • Reward Yourself: Celebrate small achievements to stay motivated.
  • Track Progress: Monitor your weight loss and celebrate milestones.

Dont depend on others for your own personal journey. Doesnt matter what your friends do. Create a structured game plan every week of working out and eating good and stick to it.

Eat better food

Eat less of it

Workout daily even if 30 min walk

Rinse and repeat

Avoid keeping tempting foods within easy reach. If you’re near a food you struggle to eat in moderation, move away from that place.

Opt for nutritious alternatives. If you crave chips, try crunchy roasted chickpeas or carrots.
