I discovered walking pads on TikTok and was intrigued for a long time before deciding to get one. It turned out to be one of my best purchases this year. Initially, I only saw slim influencers using them, which made me uncertain if it would suit me. Here’s my review in case anyone else is in the same boat.
My Background:
In 2017, I weighed 240 lbs, my heaviest ever at 22. I found this sub and lost about 60 lbs before my second pregnancy. After maintaining a healthy weight post-pregnancy, stress and the pandemic caused me to regain weight back to 230 lbs by 2021. Despite wanting to lose weight, I struggled with motivation until I quit my job in 2022. I weighed 230 lbs until July 2023, and now I’m down to 215 lbs.
Concerns Before Buying:
At 230 lbs, I was cautious of weight limits. Being 5’8", I worried about fitting comfortably on shorter models and wanted a balance between affordability and quality.
Thoughts After 6 Months of Use:
I found one with a 265 lb capacity, which has held up well. Despite some display issues, it still functions. It’s long enough for my 5’11" husband, though I do feel some hip tightness after prolonged use due to its narrowness. I manage this with breaks for stretching.
Usage and Impact:
It fits under my counter perfectly, encouraging me to walk while working or ghostwriting. I maintain a steady pace of 2 mph for casual walking and ramp it up to 3.5 mph for a more intense workout. A USB fan keeps me cool, and comfy house slippers make it easier to use.
Weight Loss Perspective:
Though I haven’t lost much weight (from 230 to 215 lbs), it’s due to inconsistent calorie counting. Remember, reducing food intake is easier than burning calories through exercise. A walking pad won’t magically shed pounds, but it can boost activity and help burn extra calories.
Feel free to ask any questions. I didn’t see many reviews from people like me before buying, so I hope this helps others considering a walking pad.
