What is considered moderate exercise vs intense?

I am 35 years old, 5’9", and weigh 260 pounds. Since December, I have lost 45 pounds and I am curious about the impact of my current routine.

I weight lift three times a week for an hour, doing about 10-12 different exercises. After that, I spend an hour on the elliptical, burning around 850 calories, with my heart rate reaching 205 bpm. I also have tachycardia, so my heart rate is generally higher.

In addition to this, I do a fourth day of cardio on the elliptical, burning the same amount of calories at a fast pace and around level 10. Sometimes, I add a fifth day of cardio. Can you provide any insights or advice based on this routine?

Your mix of weight lifting and intense cardio sounds solid. Just keep an eye on that heart rate—205 bpm is pretty high, especially with tachycardia. Maybe chat with your doc about it.

Also, balancing workouts with rest is key. You’re doing great, but don’t forget to give your body some downtime. Keep rocking it, and congrats on the 45-pound loss @Lucas :star2:

Exercise at a moderate level, 50% to around 70% of your maximum heart rate. intense physical activity that ranges from 70% to 85% of your maximal heart rate. The difference between moderate and intensive exercise is in how hard it is done and how it makes you feel.

Why do I feel like he’s definitely doing too much without enough resting grace period for the body? Anyways, my question to you @Oliver_james is, about really high heartrates, is this best to discuss with a cardiologist or the physical trainer should be well equipped in this sector?
