Why Is Chipotle's Tortilla So High in Calories?

Went to Chipotle for lunch. I follow a vegan diet (not for weight loss reasons) and find it convenient when I’m on the road. I ordered my usual burrito with brown rice, black beans, sofritas, pico, medium salsa, lettuce, and guacamole. After finishing my meal, I decided to check the calorie and nutrition information on the Chipotle website using their calculator (Nutrition Calculator). I was surprised by the total calorie count.

Since I’m familiar with the calorie content of ingredients like brown rice and black beans, I went back to the calculator and broke down each ingredient. The tortilla was the biggest surprise, with 320 calories about 200 more than I expected.

Fortunately, I had a light breakfast, so I’m still within my daily calorie goal without needing to restrict too much at dinner. But this experience taught me a valuable lesson: I’ll be sure to calculate the calories before I eat from now on.

Planning ahead before eating is really smart! It’s something that’s helped me out a lot too. I’m grateful for restaurants that provide detailed nutritional info. It makes it much easier to make informed choices about what to eat.
