I walk 10,000 steps a day; is it safe to presume that I burn 200 calories? I am a female 5’4 and 154 pounds. My target weight is still 20 pounds away, even though I have lost 30 pounds. Since I began my weight reduction quest, my TDEE has dramatically decreased, and I need to eat fewer meals to keep my 500 cal deficit.
Although it is practically hard to estimate the number of calories burned while walking, is 200 a reasonable guess? I walk briskly 10k steps outside every day and 15k+ on the weekends. On days when I am tired, I would like to eat these calories again.
Taking 10,000 steps a day, especially brisk ones, will probably burn over 200 calories. Most likely, it’s closer to 300–400. You may need to eat a little less as you continue to lose weight. Keep in mind that walking burns calories. Consider eating half (150–200 calories) or less on weekdays and adjusting for weekends. Recall that diet has a significant role in weight loss. Continue working so hard; you’re doing fantastic!
