Do not underestimate the power of soup

So I was on a pretty tight diet last year, shed 20 pounds in two and a half months, and it was working perfectly. However, it was not sustainable; I was eating a lot of salad (which I loathe) and had to drastically reduce my intake of junk food.

I discontinued that diet a few months ago, and when I measured myself two weeks ago, I had gained 6 pounds, which isn’t much but is still apparent on the scale. I was ready to say “no, not again…” until I bought soup. I adore soup, and I’m not sure why I stopped eating it. Soup is quite filling because it contains a lot of water, and I’ve been eating soup with most of my meals.
Because soup is so satisfying, I eat less of other foods, but I still eat what I want, just with soup.

I’ve dropped 3 pounds in the last week alone, with no salad and no significant sacrifices other than soda (which I was already doing last year); I simply added soup to my meals and that was it; the transformation is fantastic and very sustainable because I enjoy soup. I’m back on pace with my weight loss; only 13 pounds remain before I achieve my target!

Agreed. It’s so fucking wonderful. Where I live, we usually eat a lot of soups, which are incredibly good.

I agree, but many of those sound like high-calorie soups (cream/dairy-based), which defeats the objective of promoting soup for weight control.

Every month, while PMSing, I crave and prepare a large pot of turmeric cabbage soup in the Ethiopian way. The recipe contains ginger, garlic, jalapeños, tiny potatoes, turmeric, salt, and white pepper. That will basically be my lunch for the day.

140 calories, dense and satisfying. I use frozen pre-chopped vegetables and season to taste. To balance things out, add a small drizzle of red wine vinegar at the end. Inexpensive, quick, and amazing! It just takes around 30 minutes to cook and yields eight servings. Freezes well, too!

Yes! Since discovering that you can make savoury oatmeals on TikTok, that’s all I’ve been eating for lunch and supper (I eat rice for breakfast, sorry but I’m still Asian lol).

I simply add enough water or stock to achieve the same consistency as cream soups plus a few pieces of meat or fish for protein.

I believe I could have written this post myself! Soup is definitely my secret weapon. Every week, I prepare a pot of it. It’s lunch, dinner, and perhaps a little cup for a late snack if I’m really hungry. This week’s dish was chicken veggie with noodles. Last week’s dish was chicken and lemon rice. Next week’s theme is taco soup.
