Hello pals, I am curious if stress and anxiety can cause weight loss. Has anyone experienced this or know more about it?
On average, losing 10 to 15 percent of your overall body weight due to anxiety and the chronic stress it causes is not uncommon.
Stress and anxiety can definitely lead to weight loss in some people. Stress triggers the “fight or flight” response, burning calories and potentially reducing your appetite. You might feel too anxious to eat, or stressed out digestion can make you feel nauseous. Sleep disruptions caused by anxiety can also mess with hormones that regulate hunger.
While weight loss can be a side effect, it’s not always healthy. If you’re worried about stress or anxiety affecting your weight or eating habits, it’s wise to talk to a doctor or therapist. They can help you manage stress and develop healthy coping mechanisms.
