I really need advice. I’ve been eating fast food 3-5 times a week, and it’s messing with my goals. Any ideas to help me cut back?
It’s great you’re recognizing this and want to make changes. You could start by reducing how often you go. If you’re eating out 4 times a week, cut it down to 3. Then figure out why you’re eating fast food so often. Is it because you don’t like cooking, or is it convenience? Maybe you’re craving it? If it’s cooking, there are tons of simple recipes online. If it’s convenience, keep in mind making something quick at home can save time compared to waiting for an order. If it’s cravings, try finding healthier recipes that give you the same satisfaction, or allow yourself a small treat now and then so you don’t feel deprived.
@Scout
Some people might find going cold turkey works better for them. It’s not for everyone, but it helps to set a clear rule and adjust your taste buds faster. Plus, the quick results can be a big motivator.
@Galen
That’s true. It depends on the person. I usually suggest gradual changes, especially when giving advice online without knowing someone’s full situation, but cold turkey can work too.

Thanks for the advice. For me, it’s a mix of craving and convenience. I’ve tried meal prepping, but most days I end up talking myself into eating out instead.
@Bryce
Meal prep can help a lot. If you have good options ready at home, it’s easier to skip fast food. Plus, you’ll save money, and cooking is often quicker than ordering once you get the hang of it.

What kind of meals do you usually prep? Saving money is one of my main reasons for wanting to stop.
@Bryce
It depends on what you like. I often prep wraps, stir-fry, pasta, soups, chili, and overnight oats. You can even cook extra portions of dinner to have leftovers for the next day.

That’s a great idea. I’ll try making extra portions to save time. Thanks.
Have you tried fakeaway recipes? They’re homemade versions of fast food.

No, I haven’t. What’s a fakeaway?

It’s when you make your favorite takeaway meals at home. For example, you could try making a homemade Big Mac or KFC-style chicken.

That sounds interesting. I’ll look into it. Thanks.
No problem. I love making a Big Mac salad; just mix lettuce, steak mince, and a homemade Big Mac sauce. Tastes amazing.
I still eat fast food but pick lower-calorie options.

What are some good low-calorie choices?

Taco Bell’s Cantina menu has some good low-calorie options.
For me, it changed after a bad blood test. I realized I needed to stop fast food completely. I started eating healthier and lost 5 kg in two months. Seeing results on the scale made it easier to keep going. But you don’t have to cut it out forever; just treat yourself occasionally with healthier choices.
