Help with wrinkles and saggy skin?

Hey everyone, I used to weigh 156.8kg (345lbs) and have lost a lot in just 6 months, now I’m down to 91kg (200lbs). Will my face get tighter? I’m 17, and I’m really worried about how it’ll look when I turn 19. I just want the truth, no false hope. It’s really stressing me out, and sometimes I think about gaining weight back just to lose it more slowly since I have some nasal folds and wrinkles on my cheeks.

You are likely going to have loose skin after losing that much weight.

Yeah, I’ve accepted that I’ll have loose skin on my belly, but my main concern is my face. Losing weight so fast has made my smile lines and cheek wrinkles more noticeable, and I really don’t like it. I’m okay with my stomach and loose skin, but my face worries me.

You usually don’t have much weight in your face, so it should tighten up. Just make sure to drink plenty of water.

Thanks. Honestly, it’s not terrible right now, but my smile lines have gotten more pronounced, and I have wrinkles on my cheeks, probably from the quick weight loss. I just hope it gets better.

Also, I’ve been at 90kg for about 1-2 months now, so I hope my face skin is still tightening up.

Check out Tammy Slaton’s 400lb weight loss; her face didn’t sag much. Just give it some time to bounce back.

I just looked her up, and wow, I see what you mean. Thank you so much for this. I’ve been really down about the wrinkles for weeks now.

Being young gives you a better chance of some improvement. Here are a few things to consider…

  1. Don’t gain weight back, that’s not the solution. Just slow your pace. Aim for losing about 0.5-0.75% of your weight per week. If you’re 200, try to lose 1-1.5 lbs per week. This number goes down as you get lighter.

  2. Eat foods rich in collagen or that help boost it. Things like citrus fruits, leafy greens, nuts, fish, and bone broth are great.

  3. Get some exercise. It doesn’t have to be facial exercises. Anything helps your body repair and could aid skin tightening. You could try chewing harder foods to build volume, but don’t expect miracles from that.

  4. Use skincare products with hyaluronic acid, retinol, or a prescription for tretinoin. These won’t fix loose skin entirely, but they can help reduce wrinkles and improve appearance.

The only sure solution is cosmetic surgery, like botox or skin removal.

Do you think my face skin will tighten up? I honestly don’t care about my stomach or anywhere else, just my face.

Yeah, I was focusing on the face, but this advice is good in general too.

What can you expect? I think your face will improve. I’ve seen a lot of photos of people who lost a ton of weight, like 300-400 lbs, and their faces look fine. Usually, it’s the torso and arms where you see loose skin. The skin on your face tends to adjust better.

@Ellison
Thank you so much. I’ve been maintaining my weight for about 1-2 months now, so I’m hopeful for some improvements. Plus, I still need to lose 20lbs.
