How can I get Ozempic for weight loss?

Unfortunately, I think Ozempic (semaglutide) is a controlled drug. I think due to its growing popularity it poses a high risk of abuse, so to be safe you must have a prescription from a qualified practitioner.

Ozempic is a medication approved to treat type 2 diabetes. While it’s occasionally used off-label to aid in weight loss, you can only obtain it with a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

I chose Push Health, a telemedicine website, for my prescription. It was quick and convenient, but not necessarily the most cost-effective. I had originally wanted Mounjaro. If I had known my healthcare provider would prescribe Ozempic, I would have visited my primary care physician (PCP) instead and saved the $75 fee from Push.

Also, I ended up getting my prescription filled through a Canadian pharmacy, which cost around $300 for about 8 weeks’ worth. If I had used my insurance at my PCP’s office, it would have been $150. So, it turned out to be quite expensive, but the process with Push Health was very easy.

I’m not sure if my PCP would have been willing to prescribe Ozempic, or if my local pharmacy would have had it in stock.

My GP attempted to get it authorized, but was unable, therefore I was able to get it covered via my endo. I believe my endo told a false story about my diabetes to have it covered, so all you have to do is find someone who will advocate on your behalf if that’s okay with you. He believed that if he didn’t take action right away, he would eventually develop diabetes. I would rather try medicine than surgery.

Just wondering, If Ozempic is mainly used to control blood sugar levels for diabetic patients, then why is it popular among people who want to reduce their weight?
