How do you safely lose weight while breastfeeding?

Hi team…

I’m on a mission to lose 50 lbs after the birth of my second baby 10 months ago. I am 5’9 and 202 lbs.

I know exercise isn’t a realistic option right now since I have practically no free time each day.

My diet, however, needed a major overhaul. I was eating 2200+ calories daily, with lots of dairy, fats, junk food, etc.

For the last 2 days, I’ve been calorie counting and averaged 1400 calories (1200 & 1600).

But this has seriously impacted my milk supply, reducing it to the point where I had to give my baby a bottle in the middle of the night, which I’ve never had to do.

I’m eating pretty healthy foods but maybe not drinking enough water.

Is it possible to lose weight while breastfeeding? I don’t want to stop but also want to lose weight desperately.

While nursing to lose weight, I consumed between 1450–1500 calories per day and did not observe a decrease in my supply. To maintain my fullness, I consumed a lot of protein and low-calorie items like salads, healthy grains, and tofu.
