How long does it take to lose 20 lbs

I am a 22-year-old female who is 5’3". My goal weight is 125 pounds, and I currently weigh 154 pounds. It is strange how, despite spending the better part of the last five years hovering around the 150s, it was not until this past weekend that I made the decision to take losing weight seriously.

I have figured out my exercise schedule. I work out for an hour every day, four days a week. It consists of a combination of 30 minutes of upper or lower body workouts and 30 minutes of spinning. For the last two months, I have followed this regimen. Even while it might not seem like much to others, I think it is still preferable than doing nothing at all.

I have established some goals for myself in terms of nutrition. I have made the decision to give up sugary snacks like soda and sweets and keep to drinking at least 77 ounces of water each day. In addition, I am attempting to limit my daily calorie intake to 1,500 and avoid fried foods.

Would you happen to know if any other women have tried something similar and how long it took to see results? Though I am not in a rush, knowing ahead of time will help me mentally prepare. I appreciate any guidance or information you may provide in advance.

It is important to note that weight loss is a personal journey and can depend on various factors such as metabolism, starting weight, and adherence to diet and exercise. Generally, a safe and sustainable rate of weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week. Given your current regimen and dietary goals, you might start to see changes in a few weeks to a couple of months, but it’s crucial to stay patient and consistent.

Everyone is different. I’m a 5’6 F and it took me 14 weeks to shed 15.5 pounds. I’ve seen people lose far more weight in a shorter length of time. I believe that if you maintain a calorie deficit and exercise moderately, you should be able to drop 20 pounds by the end of the year.

@SlimDownSage It sounds like you have a solid weight loss plan. Here’s some info to help:

  1. Starting with 1,500 calories a day is a good idea, but be sure to consult a doctor for personalized advice.
  2. Drinking water and cutting out sugary drinks is definitely the way to go.
  3. Many women have success with similar routines. Results can vary, but you should start seeing changes in a few weeks.

Keep it up, you’re doing great! #weightlossjourney

Whether you have five pounds to lose or fifty, according to many healthy weight-loss guidelines, you should strive to drop one or two pounds per week. This implies it could take you anywhere from 10 to 20 weeks to lose 20 pounds.
