Is It Okay to Have a Week Off from My Diet During Vacation?

Hello folks…

I wanna go on vacation soon and I’m really looking forward to exploring new foods as I travel across Asia. Additionally, I’m planning a weekend trip to Vienna with my brother where we’ll be trying out various restaurants.

I’ve been following a strict diet, avoiding added sugars and maintaining a calorie deficit of around 1600 kcal (±100) per day. I’ve successfully lost about 8kg over the past two months.

Given that I’ll be eating more freely during my vacation, with a maximum of around 2500 kcal per day (my maintenance calories are about 2200 kcal), I’m wondering if this break will significantly impact my progress. Should I continue to stick to my diet during the holiday, or is it okay to take a week off without jeopardizing my results?

I took a week long vacation and relaxed my eating habits, sticking close to my maintenance calories. I was concerned it might set back my progress, but I didn’t gain any weight. I stayed active by walking a lot and exploring the new places I visited.

I’d focus on mindful eating and portion control during your trip
