Weight loss suggestions for 18-year-olds

Hi!! I’m 18 and a Muslim. I’m a finicky eater who mainly eats chicken for protein. I am currently 58 kilogrammes with a belly pouch. Any ideas on how to lose weight? Gym memberships in my location are incredibly expensive, and I’m a college student who gets fatigued fast. I desperately want to get rid of the tummy pooch and heavy thighs :sob:

Doing very little exercise, lying in bed, using your phone all day.

Consume junk food or foods high in sugar. Consume excessive amounts of chips, pasta, or bread.

Less than seven hours of sleep

Fasting

Eat little or no food. This WILL cause you to lose weight temporarily, but your metabolism will slow down dramatically, making it increasingly difficult to lose weight, and it will nearly quickly return when you stop.

You could lose 10kg or more if you follow the advice I’m about to give you. The outcomes will vary based on the individual. Your goal is to enhance your metabolism so you can lose weight faster.

You can accomplish this by drinking green tea or ginger tea with lemon every day and consuming foods such as sweet potatoes, cherries, and mushrooms. Consume complex carbohydrates, fats from avocados and nuts, and fry your food with coconut oil or olive oil. However, it is preferable not to heat olive oil because it will lose much of its nutritional value. Consume high-quality protein from unprocessed meats (preferably white), eggs, soy milk, almond milk, and legumes.

The simplest thing to do is to start tracking how much you eat and getting a decent understanding of how many calories you consume. So, for a week, write down everything you put in your mouth, including liquids, and then go online to calculate how many calories everything contains. Why am I saying that? Because you have to know where you are before you know where you want to go!

Then go to an online BMR calculator. Enter your height, weight, age, gender, and other details. It will give you a general estimate of how many calories you require.

Hmm… So you want to lose weight? And you’re sixteen? If you truly want to reduce weight, you must work hard, monitor your diet, avoid junk food (mainly), be prepared at all times, and be physically active.

In hard work, you must do some workouts such as jumping jacks, running or jogging (at least 1km daily), push-ups (if you can’t do push-ups, start with the easy one i.e. wall push-ups then gradually move down like do push-ups with chair, bed, or anything but do at least 30 until it sweats), and pull-ups (at least 10 and 3-5 if it is difficult for you).

Just be careful not to overdo it; are you certain you need to lose weight? Are you sure you are overweight? Many children these days look up to movie stars and fashion models, and they believe this is quite normal. Many of them do it for a movie before returning to bulk up. Boxers also do it to get weighted before a fight. Some models have so low fat levels that they cannot receive their periods.

At your age, I would simply focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and engaging in physical activity. Avoid sugary added foods and consume more veggies, meat, eggs, and dairy. Limit your consumption of bread and rice, as well as sugary drinks.

Hi,

Losing weight is determined by your body type rather than your age. You can also use BMI to judge your body. If you are really obese, I strongly advise you to adjust your food and sleeping patterns starting immediately. Prepare yourself to exercise. Don’t undertake strenuous exercise; instead, start at zero and gradually build your workout intensity. You can begin by jogging, running, or doing other activities.

But I strongly advise you to monitor your nutrition. Avoid junk food as much as possible. Take fewer carbohydrates, and your body will rely on and metabolize fats. You can consume more proteins than carbohydrates or lipids. That should be your starter kit. When your body adjusts to exercise and you effectively modify your diet, then let me know and we can move on. You can surely lose a lot of weight.

You lose weight by reducing calories. In 2017 I volunteered at a no-kill animal shelter. I reached down to pick up a little puppy, and my blue jean waistband dug into my stomach. I immediately developed a plan to lose weight!

I discontinued all items and liquids containing cane sugar and corn fructose syrup. In three months and two weeks, I lost 46 pounds with no exercise! By the end of the year, I had lost 20 additional pounds. I’ve weighed 120 pounds ever since. No workout at all!!!

In other words, no soda or fruit juice! I used to create smoothies with a few almonds, muscle milk, and fresh or frozen fruits and veggies twice a day.

Begin working on yourself right now. If you can exercise, aim to do so for more than half an hour. If you don’t want to exercise, start by walking for more than 10,000 steps per day or taking the stairs at least 10 times per day. You can also walk, climb stairs, and conduct workouts.

Try to limit your diet as much as possible. Another option is to consume only one meal. You determine which meal you will eat, and you must fast until that meal. However, you can consume your favourite food during that meal in a short amount of time.

My 17-year-old son decided in January of this year to stop eating Taco Bell, Bojangles, and other junk food. He then began eating home-cooked chicken, ground turkey, broccoli, and rice, with pinto and black beans mixed in. He also began to exercise with me, practicing weightlifting and cardio. He lost between 15 and 20 pounds in around four months. He did great.

You can get your favourite home-cooked delicacies that are full in protein and nutrients. Exercise will help you lose a few pounds. Good luck. Remember, you’re still a kid and developing, so don’t stop eating. Good nutrition is essential.

I understand if you dislike the gym. Not everyone does, and some are concerned that others will gaze at them. If that is your anxiety, don’t worry because no one goes to the gym to stare and mock others. They go for themselves, to become in shape. I recommend walking around your neighbourhood with lively music. Get a pace app that counts your steps and aim to walk 10,000 steps. That may sound like a lot, but it isn’t. Also, try swimming.

You can lose weight quickly if you get sick, such as with the flu or a stomach bug, puke up everything you eat, have no desires, and drink enough of fluids. When I was your age, I was hospitalised for a week with a similar sickness, and I looked like a skeleton when I came out. I recall being so weak that I couldn’t unscrew the cap of a beverage when I was home alone, and my parents decided to take me to the hospital because resting at home wasn’t going to be enough. I got fluids through an IV after a couple of weeks of fasting owing to the stomach bug.
