Hey, I’m 15 and 188cm tall. I started losing weight and hitting the gym back in April. I used to weigh 125 kgs, and now I’m down to 105kgs. I’ve changed a lot, lost my double chin and man boobs. But today, a guy at school who I don’t really know told me I’m still fat and that I need to go back to the gym.
For some reason, that really hurt, even though I’m used to bullying. I’m the only gay guy in a small high school.
I feel like all my progress doesn’t matter to others. Does anyone have advice for me? Thanks.
I’m 38, and my advice to you is simple: never let someone else’s opinion affect your progress or your self-worth. This applies to everything, not just your looks. Some people may be jealous, some might not care, but it doesn’t matter. Your progress is important to you. You’ve worked hard for it, and you should be proud of yourself.
Don’t let people’s words get to you. Respect yourself and your journey. Keep going, no matter what they say.
This happened to me too. I lost about 20lbs and for the first time, I got called a ‘fat bi’ by some strangers in a car. It’s crazy how people act when they see you actually trying to change. Keep doing what you’re doing, OP. Congrats on the 20kg weight loss.
Misery loves company. I lost 65 lbs over two years. At first, people at work were supportive, but now they keep offering me junk food. It’s weird how people love your success when they’re not around you all the time. But when they see you changing and getting better, they can get jealous. They’ll try to bring you down.
But you’re doing amazing. Keep pushing forward, OP. You’re making a big difference in your life, and that’s what matters.
Sounds like jealousy to me. He probably saw how much weight you’ve lost and wanted to bring you down. A lot of people feel threatened when they see others improving. They don’t want to see you succeed because it makes them feel bad about themselves. I had the same experience when I lost weight, and some people acted like they didn’t even see it.
Don’t let it get to you, OP. You’ve made incredible progress, and that’s what counts.
