I wanted to share my experience with Wegovy, as I’ve noticed some negativity towards it in this subreddit.
I’ve been on it for 9 weeks and have lost about 20 lbs. I feel great, with minimal side effects, mostly just occasional feelings of being overly full.
Many people here seem to view it as just an appetite suppressant, but it’s more than that. I’ve tried calorie counting, portion control, and eating healthier in the past, but nothing worked because I couldn’t stick to it. I was obsessed with calories, often eating very little and feeling guilty if I ate something “bad,” which would then lead to binge eating and more guilt.
All of that is gone now. I’m not just less hungry; all the noise around food is gone. I stop eating when I’m full, even if the food is delicious. I no longer crave sugar like I used to. I feel like I have a normal relationship with food now.
So, it’s not just an appetite suppressant, it’s not “medically induced anorexia,” and it’s not less valid than CICO.
Additionally, my doctor believes it’s going to be a breakthrough drug. Many of her cardiology colleagues are excited about its heart health benefits and how safe it is.
