Why do some children overcome childhood obesity while others are unable to?

I recently got together with a friend I’ve known since middle school; when we were twelve, our heights and weights were identical. At that age, we were both overweight, weighing 180 pounds, but now she’s a size 6 and I’m a size 22. My size only increased as her weight returned to normal. Of course, I know that I consumed more food, but even if we had the same weight and eating habits as children, our bodies are very different. I’ve always been on diets, and as an adult, I’ve never weighed less than 210 (I’m currently 260). wondering if some people have a harder time losing weight than others.

Some people struggle more with weight loss due to genetics, metabolism, or hormones, even if they have similar diets and exercise habits. It’s worth talking to a healthcare professional to explore what’s going on with your body and find a plan that suits you.

Many of us carry unquestioned acquired behaviors from our early years into adulthood. Others are aware of them and are making an effort to alter them.
